An exciting position has arisen for a Head of the ELIXIR-UK Co-ordination office to join the Earlham Institute (EI) in Norwich, UK.   

The successful post holder will play a pivotal leadership role within ELIXIR-UK, which is a nationally distributed network of activities with a European dimension (http://www.elixir-uk.org). The main purpose of this role will be to strategically develop, oversee and manage the ELIXIR-UK activities at EI and participate in senior management of the Node.

Candidates are expected to have a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant subject area, knowledge of ELIXIR and ELIKIR-UK, knowledge of genomics, bioinformatics/computational science and be able to demonstrate knowledge of Research Council strategy and processes. Experience of formulating a science strategy, leadership and management skills and success in large scale project management and delivery are also essential.

The Earlham Institute is a vibrant, contemporary research institute. Salary on appointment will be within the range £60,480 to £74,500 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This post is a fixed term contract until November 2020.

Main purpose of job.

Strategically oversee and manage ELIXIR-UK activities at the Earlham Institute. Strategically develop, oversee and manage the activities of the UK node of ELIXIR, which is a nationally distributed network of activities with a European dimension, and participate in senior management of the Node.

This post will play a pivotal leadership role within ELIXIR-UK particularly to:

  1. Engage with, and publicise the ELIXIR-UK mission and objectives to the UK scientific community and other stakeholders. 
  2. Increase and accelerate the participation and support for ELIXIR within the UK via communication with a wide range of stakeholders. 
  3. Increase the resources contributed to ELIXIR.
