Our Schools Programme on the road.

Our Schools Programme is an online series of interactive materials which aim to introduce key areas of molecular biology and bioinformatics to children aged 4 - 11.

Our resources enable teachers to acquaint themselves with current trends and then to facilitate their teaching of such concepts in the classroom. The programme is regularly updated and follows best practices in education. Feedback from our events helps us to ensure our resources meet your needs.

Our Schools Programme is hitting the road. Spaces are limited, to find out how you can apply for a session with our dedicated team, see below:

The applicants must meet the minimum criteria set out below:

  • The school must be based in the UK
  • The school and respective teacher(s) must demonstrate a genuine interest in the topics covered by our Schools Programme
  • At least one dedicated contact should be provided as liaison with our Schools Programme
  • The school must commit to providing follow-up feedback on the visit.

  • Submit an application to join the programme
  • Confirmation email within 48 hours
  • Notification of decision
  • We'll get in touch with successful schools
  • Arranging a visit
  • Visit and feedback on site
  • Follow-up 3 months after visit.

There is considerable interest from schools in visits from scientists, or bringing pupils into research settings. We would like to ensure that we have a set of criteria to define which schools we visit:

  1. to maximise the resources and the efforts that such visits employ
  2. to prioritise the schools that have an interest in building a long-term collaboration with our Schools Programme

Applications will be judged on the following:

  • The justification from the school about why our Schools Programme should visit them
  • The expectations of the school should match those of our Schools Programme
  • The availability and interest of the school in future collaborations
  • Once applications have been received, the first selection phase will rank the schools.
