Claire Fernandez provides project management for the Institutes Research Faculty, focussing on the Strategic Programmes, and supports the Institutes scientific administration.

Starting out as a Research Assistant at the Babraham Institute and Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, Claire completed her D.Phil. at the University of Oxford Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM) in 2006.

Following a post-doctoral position at the WIMM, Claire moved away from the lab to work as a Research Officer, overseeing the set-up and delivery of Oncology clinical trials at Buckinghamshire NHS Foundation Trust. Following this, she worked as a Research Coordinator and Study Manager at the University of Oxford Department of Cardiovascular Medicine managing hyper-acute research studies.

She then worked as the Deputy Programme Manager for the Oxford Academic Health Sciences Network, managing the mental health networks to plan, deliver and embed system-wide improvement in healthcare outcomes across a range of specialties and organisations.

Prior to joining the Earlham Institute, Claire worked as the Project Manager for Molecular Diagnostics, as part of the Strategic Projects Team at the University of Oxford, with a focus on the use of Next Generation Sequencing technology to improve early diagnosis, treatment options and patient outcomes.
