Samuel Horsfield

I’m a biochemistry undergraduate student at the University of Birmingham, currently undertaking a placement at EI as part of the ongoing Year in Industry (YII) programme.

My admiration for the work being done in the field of genomics and systems biology has only really blossomed in the last two years of my degree, but it’s seen me take big steps towards pursuing a research career. With this year, I’m planning to gain invaluable insight into the world class science being done here at Earlham, and put myself in a fantastic position to move forward after university.

Besides studying genomics, I’ve written a number of articles published online about the subject with regard to its clinical applications. I’ve worked in public engagement positions whilst at university and I’ve discovered a love for communication, be it scientific or otherwise. I hope during my time here I’ll be able to contribute to some of Earlham’s fantastic social media content, and aid in the expansion of public interest in the institute and its science.
