The Scientific Training team work with content experts from EI and across the world to create hands-on training courses and workshops in cutting edge genomics, bioinformatics and high-performance computing.
Our approach to training.
We adopt a range of approaches to equip trainees with the most appropriate mix of key skills and best practice. Courses include anything from short workshops on specific software or key programming skills to week-long, hands-on courses that encompass complete research workflows. One example is our Metagenomics course. This takes delegates from DNA extraction, through sequencing and annotation to the production of publication-ready figures.
Whilst it is self-evident that content is key to successful training, we also ensure our training reflects the best in pedagogy and andragogy; for example, peer-assisted learning increases engagement with course material, so when numbers permit we may select delegates to ensure the right breadth of interests and skills are present, fostering reinforcement through discussion amongst peers and trainers. Though training outcomes are notoriously hard to measure, we are pleased to note that EI training courses are recognised by the Norwich Doctoral Training Partnership, whose students receive credits for attendance.
If you are interested in developing your skills in a topic not currently listed, please do get in touch with the training team as there may be something relevant in upcoming courses.
There are currently no scientific training events to display. Please check our events calendar for other events of interest.
