BioFAIR UK

Supported by UKRI’s Infrastructure Fund and Digital Research Infrastructure Programme, BioFAIR is establishing a cohesive, UK-wide digital research infrastructure.

By bridging current gaps between life science researchers, digital research technical professionals, host institutions, and funders, BioFAIR acts as a catalyst for national innovation and discovery.

Across its five-year roadmap, BioFAIR is delivering impact by:

  • Accelerating FAIR data adoption: Embedding findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) data principles across UK life sciences to maximise data value for researchers and discovery.
  • Unifying the research landscape: Connecting a historically fragmented digital ecosystem to enable seamless collaboration and resource sharing across the national scientific community.
  • Democratising data access: Breaking down institutional barriers to ensure researchers across the UK have the infrastructure, tools, and autonomy needed for innovation to flourish.
  • Upskilling the workforce: Coordinating targeted training and support for practitioners at all levels, building digital capacity and securing the UK’s leadership in data-driven life sciences.

As hosts of BioFAIR’s coordinating hub, the Earlham Institute’s core expertise is complemented by a skilled, distributed network of UK partners driving project leadership and delivery.
