Modern genomics and data-driven science lie at the heart of many breakthroughs in life science, with far-reaching applications affecting everyone in the global community. We believe that engagement with the public is of paramount importance to have a meaningful two-way dialogue about our research and the impact it has.

During the 2024 Norwich Science Festival, members of the public were asked to explore strange and unfamiliar bananas from around the world in an attempt to find genes that might protect the plants from Fusarium TR4 disease affecting Cavendish bananas.
A Wellcome-funded programme of public engagement events and activities (2021-23) that explored biodiversity on and around the Norfolk Broads, led by the Earlham Institute as part of our work on the Darwin Tree of Life project.
During the 2023 Norwich Science Festival, researchers from the Earlham Institute were showcasing the Darwin Tree of Life project - a collaboration between ten leading research organisations, funded by Wellcome, combining expertise across biodiversity, genomics, and DNA analysis.
