Providing an introduction to single-cell genomics, this course is for researchers who are new to bioinformatics and are planning a single-cell project.

This Advanced level workshop is ideal for researchers and technical workers with a background in biology and a basic knowledge of Python, to develop bigger or more complicated programs and increase skills and knowledge about the language, including object-oriented approaches to programming.

Our goal is to help scientists become more productive by teaching them basic computing skills like program design, version control, testing and task automation.

This introductory level course will be delivered virtually, and is intended for people with a biological background but with no previous programming experience. The course introduces basic programming concepts with plenty of time to practice writing code and work on your own data.

The course will provide an introduction to de novo assembly, with a hands on introduction followed by in-depth analysis of the key steps in the process. The course will consist of a mixture of conceptual lectures, methodological lectures and hands on sessions, as well as group activities and discussions.

Data Carpentry workshops are for any researcher who has data they want to analyse, and no prior computational experience is required. This hands-on workshop teaches basic concepts, skills and tools for working more effectively with data.

The annual ELIXIR-UK All Hands brings together people working at ELIXIR-UK consortium member institutions for this two-day meeting, which for 2019 is hosted by University of Dundee.
