I am a Research Assistant in the Technical Genomics Group. My role involves the preparation of sequencing-ready libraries from DNA and RNA. This involves the use of a variety of laboratory equipment such as the PerkinElmer GX, Tecan, Bioanalyser and Mosquito.

I graduated from the University of Kent with a First Class Honours in Bsc Biology and started my first role as a Lab assistant at the Uk Biocentre Covid Lab.

I then transferred over to a Laboratory Technician and gained experience using liquid automated equipment such as the Tecan and Kingfisher for RNA extraction.

Prior to joining EI, I worked at the John Innes Centre on the Molecular Genetics Platform with Saleha Bakht. This Platform provides a range of services including TILLING, QC of nucleic acids, BDFACSMelody training, and high throughput screening of gene-edited lines using Sanger Sequencing.

I really enjoyed working on a platform as I was able to support others research. I am very interested in next-generation sequencing which led me to apply to my current position at EI.
