Ursula Arndt

Ursula is a trained paleogeneticist with a Master’s from Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and a PhD from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada.

After her PhD she worked for TRAFFIC (WWF) Canada on applying paleogenetics techniques to wildlife forensic questions, before moving to the UK where she worked for Illumina. At Illumina she worked as a lab manager and the science Lead for Illumina Accelerator. Between Illumina Accelerator and her freelance time, she has supported well over 50 startups.

Ursula is the Commercialisation Manager in our Business Development and Impact Team. Ursula has a diverse range of experiences from genomics research, lab operations, and facilitating translation of research into company R&D strategy and business planning, communications and stakeholder engagement.

Ursula’s aim is to support scientist in protecting their IP and exploring commercialisation opportunities benefiting the Earlham Institute and wider scientific community.
