About the event

What is the workshop about?

This workshop will bring together researchers from the whole of the Norwich Research Park community, including businesses, research institutes, and UEA. Our aim is to create a platform to discuss innovative applications of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and associated genome technologies to agricultural, medical and environmental sciences by bringing together suppliers and practitioners of the latest technologies with those wishing to use them. Our hope is to capitalise on the breadth of expertise available across NRP to stimulate novel ideas and new collaborations, and, where possible, leverage funding opportunities.

This event is supported by Research England HEIF funding to support and develop collaborations with business via projects linked to the industrial strategy.

Target audience:

Researchers currently using genome technologies such as next-generation sequencing or who are interested in applying recently developed genomic tools to their work. Open to all researchers across the NRP, participation from graduate students is particularly encouraged and supported by inclusion of an ‘Innovation Station Chat’ lunch session where you can discuss career paths and opportunities with industry representatives at the workshop.

Planning and Next Actions:

This session is primarily targeted towards group leaders and PIs or those with an interest in scoping potential funding sources for collaborative projects, in particular engaging with industry partners.

Abstracts:

We welcome abstract submissions from all delegates, both early career and experienced researchers. Abstracts should include a title, list of authors with presenting author in bold, affiliations for authors and the main body of the abstract must be no longer than 250 words. Abstracts must be submitted in one of the following file formats: .doc .docx .pdf

Deadline for abstract submission is Sunday 7th October

Abstracts will be reviewed and successful authors will be contacted within 10 days of submission closing. Abstracts will be selected based on scientific merit and complementarity to the workshop themes. Successful authors will be given a 10 minutes slot comprising 7 minutes presentation and 3 minutes for questions. Speakers will be asked to send their presentation in advance and bring a backup copy of the presentation in appropriate format (either USB or accessible from a download site).

Prerequisites:

None, although you are more likely to benefit if you already have a project in mind which is in experimental planning stages.

Application type: First-come, first-served.

Spaces available:

We anticipate around 60 attendees for the main workshop.
Numbers for the PhD Innovation Station Chats at lunchtime in the Wallace Room are limited to 20.
Numbers for Future Plans and Next Steps session are limited to 30.
