ApplyApplications are invited for a Predoctoral Intern to join the Laboratory of Dr Carolina Grandellis in the Earlham Biofoundry of the Earlham Institute, based in Norwich, UK.
Background:
The Predoctoral Intern will join the Earlham Biofoundry Group at the Earlham Institute to work on bioengineering approaches for plant sciences, utilising high-throughput methods in the foundry.
The role:
The intern will work to establish a screening platform in plant cells to test regulatory elements. The candidate will perform high-throughput testing and in-planta validation experiments.
They will receive training in plant molecular biology, synthetic biology, high throughput experimentation and automation. The post holder will be provided with bespoke training from Earlham Institute’s research faculty, fully engage in our research environment, and have access to core skills training and scientific platforms.
The ideal candidate:
We are seeking to recruit a Predoctoral Intern in Plant Science to join our cohort of PhD students and interns at the Earlham Institute.
Applications are encouraged from undergraduate or master's students who have completed - or expect to complete - an undergraduate degree in biology, bioengineering, or plant science prior to commencing the internship.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in molecular biology and engineering biology. Experience in basic molecular biology and tissue culture techniques would be advantageous but is not essential.

Additional information:
Salary on appointment will be £23,493 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.
This is a full-time post for a contract of 12 months.
