I joined EI in August 2020 as an Automation Senior Research Assistant in the Earlham Biofoundry.
My background is in the field of Forensic Science and prior to joining EI I spent 20 years working as a Forensic Scientist specialising in DNA profiling.
After graduating from University with a degree in Applied Biology I joined the Forensic Science Service working within the operational DNA unit processing and reporting samples from both arrestees and scenes of crime.
I moved on to LGC Forensics and then latterly Key Forensic Services where I led the Technical Specialist team responsible for both the technical oversight of the day to day operation of the DNA processing unit, and the development, validation and implementation of new techniques and technologies.
This included the development of a rapid DNA profiling service utilising the new rapid DNA technologies.
