Organiser: Emily Angiolini
Registration deadline: 15 January 2017
Cost: £100

About the event

What is the workshop about?

This workshop looks at integration of -omics data, with a particular focus in the fields of health and nutrition as well as environmental factors influencing health.

What will it cover?

Provide an overview of the main tools and resources for the integration of multiple -omics data types as well as interpretation and modelling. This will be delivered through keynote lectures in the form of case studies, which will not only detail the cross-disciplinary nature of the research showcased and its impact, but will also highlight experimental strategies and challenges. The course will additionally have a series of short theory lectures followed by directed hands-on exercises.

What will I learn?

• Learn how to explore, including visualising, datasets to inform data analysis

• Learn how to model data to interpret omics data and test to refine the model

• Understand the challenges and data analysis strategies using metabolomics data as an example

• Learn statistical approaches to omics data using R

• Understand how to integrate data types using RNAseq and metabolomics data as an example

• Appreciate the breadth of research using multiple omics data types through presentation of case studies

Target Audience

This course is aimed at advanced PhD students and post-doctoral researchers who are doing or planning to start research involving integration of omics data type such as those presented in the programme.

Financial support

FAHA are supporting this course by providing a limited number of full bursaries to PhD students and PostDoctoral researchers from the Norwich Research Park. Details available from training@earlham.ac.uk.
